Note that since Fleeting Possession causes wounds to the unit, not the models, the unit's controlling player may allocate them as they see wish. They do not have to be put toward the models actually under the marker.
As applied to the mission's Daemonhost, the Daemon special rule grants some Daemonhunters special abilities, though most are available only to units outside of standard Combat Patrol and some are not applicable to an essentially passive model.
The marker for Fleeting possession does not have to be placed so as to maximize wounds, but note that it's placed by the opposing player, so leaving one model trailing behind or similar tactics probably won't help. Also, the marker center hole must be over a model's base, but need not be centered over that base.
